Hi Jay,

Those are called fabicons!

Here is a tutorial:  http://www.clickfire.com/viewpoints/articles/ 
favicons.php

One thing not mentioned in tutorial is that you have to stop and  
restart your web server (normally Apache) that serves up the pages  
after you put the .ico file into your document root.
