[Sigia-l] Ajax vs. $$$

The fact that MySpace, the most popular site on the Internets and thus the
best designed, is an underachiever when it comes to ad revenue is no secret.

In "MySpace: Unstoppable Force or Unnecessary Click Factory?" Mike Davidson
argues that MySpace has a choice between drastically reducing
clicks/page-views and thereby enhancing user experience or keeping it the
same and suffering the ignominy of having more ad inventory than it can
successfully sell. Unfortunately, using AJAXy methods for a better UX also
means massive reduction of page-views, which advertisers are trained to
focus on. He has some speculative numbers to buttress his theory.

One of these days your management or client will ask you this very question:
why should we use AJAX if it can reduce our ad revenue?
