The Montague Institute will conduct a workshop on how to create, maintain,
and integrate metadata with a
search engine on October 4, 2006 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Eastern time at the
MITRE Corporation in McLean,
Virginia. For registration information and seminar description, see
http://www.montague.com/searchseminar.htm.
You can attend either in person or via teleconference.

Search engines have improved over the last 10 years, but in many cases they
still serve up too many irrelevant
items. One way to make them "smarter" is to use taxonomies and metadata. In
this seminar, you will learn how
to create and maintain metadata structures (taxonomies) and expose them for
use by a metadata-aware search
engine such as Autonomy's Ultraseek or the Google Search Appliance. As an
option, you can create your own
metadata using a Web-based Lab and experiment with search engine interface
functions.

This workshop is also available as a Web-based course that you can take any
time. For more information, see
