[Sigia-l] The planetary classification conundrum... mental modelsoutside of the Web

If Charon and Pluto orbit around the same gravitational center, then
it would seem that they are both either planets (if they're orbiting
a star) or a moon (orbiting a planet).

However, the rather loose definition of a pluton actually seems to
apply to both moons and planets since the key differentiator seems to
be the type and distance-from-center of the orbit. Why couldn't one
argue that Earth was also a pluton? Not enough distance from the
gravitational source=

Is a faceted classification scheme needed...?

Cheers,
Eric
