PHICHI Debate:
We have a very exciting event planned for the next PHICHI meeting. On May
11th, we will host the first ever PHICHI Debate. This event will consist of
three short debates on topics currently facing the industry of usability
(topics listed below). The debates will be moderated by Professor Mark
Hickman of West Chester University, Executive Chair of the National Forensic
Association (NFA is the national committee that runs collegiate debates). As
a meeting attendee, you will have an active role in this event by voting
before and after each debate. At the end, we will see if whether or not
listening to the arguments have changed the groups' views on the topic.

Please join us for this fun, interactive and insightful meeting! The topics
that will be debated are:

Topic 1: Website username and password restrictions exceed the security
needs of the industry.
Arguing for: John Ferrara, Unisys (http://www.unisys.com)
Arguing against: Ben Adams, University of
Pennsylvania(http://www.upenn.edu)

Topic 2: The number of users who voluntarily adopt an interface is the most
important measure of its usability.
Arguing for: Jonathan Lupo, Empathy Lab (http://www.empathylab.com)
Arguing against: Rob Tannen, Electronic Ink
(http://www.electronicink.com)

Topic 3: The observations and data gathered from remote user testing studies
are even better than in-person laboratory tests.
Arguing for: Kyle Pero, Usable Interface
(http://www.usableinterface.com)
Arguing against: Todd Warfel, MessageFirst (http://messagefirst.com)

NOTE: PHICHI meetings are ALWAYS open to anyone who is interested in
attending. Membership to the ACM is NOT required. Stay informed on PHICHI
