Sr. Information Architect

K12, Inc, a leader in online and offline innovation in the field of K-12
education located in McLean, VA, is looking for a Sr. Information Architect.
As a Sr. Information Architect your primary responsibility will be to lead
the analysis and design of K12's business systems applications.  As such you
will conduct interviews, formulate requirements, develop concept models and
usage scenarios, design interactive user experiences, review implementation
and provide recommendations based on usability testing results.  You will
utilize a user-centered design methodology to arrive at successful solutions
that support the goals of the business and needs of the users.  

Responsibilities:
. Understand and articulate the business vision, problem definition and
opportunity.
. Develop and communicate UI solution approach that supports and enhances
the business strategy and user experience.   
. Collaborate with multidisciplinary management team in prioritizing
functional requirements and developing a phased-development approach.  
. Craft visual representation of large systems, complex relationships, data
and task flows, interactive prototypes for team clarification and consensus.
. Employ user-centered methodology to arrive at cohesive organization
systems, elegant navigation systems, and effective labeling and search
systems.   
. Communicate solution approach through development of user and data flows,
use cases, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and specifications.
. Lead resources and communicate with colleagues and director to ensure
product remains true to stated goals of functional design throughout
development of product.
. Orchestrate and incorporate feedback from usability testing.

Required Qualifications:
. 6-8+ years experience in designing successful web applications.
. Degree in human-computer interaction, information or library science,
product design or related field.
. Expertise in the principals of user-centered design.
. Extensive understanding of innovative graphical user interface design,
information design, and interactive design.
. Experience with business process analysis and automation.
. Experience in the design of large scale business applications such as
e-commerce, order and logistics management, financial management, and
content management systems.
. Excellent written, oral and diagrammatic communication skills.
. Adept at relevant design, prototyping, and information flow software (e.g.
Visio, Illustrator, Flash, Homesite, etc.) 
. Solid understanding of web technologies including both front-end and
back-end applications. 

Requirement: 
Show samples of implemented online work and problem solving.  Be prepared to
speak about the processes you used to develop these applications and your
specific role in the development of each site.
