Hi Folks,

for all that we rain on Jakob, I think that we all owe him this: he 
raised the profile of web usability as a commercial necessity. I'm not 
saying he did this alone by any stretch, but he did do a lot for us. I 
see middle managers reading useit.com as a very healthy thing.

And his roadshow did bring Lou Rosenfeld and Mags Hanley to Sydney a 
couple of years back, which raised the profile of IA in Australia a lot.

I see him personally as a kind of respected uncle - he has done a lot 
for us as a family of HCI/IA professionals, and if he breaks wind at the 
dinner table every now and then, well, we roll our eyes but we love him 
all the same. :)
