[Sigia-l] Nielsen: It's the end!

I can honestly say that I don't visit Jakob's Useit or Alertbox--I have
poked around each once or twice for a few minutes and then left but
that's about it. I've never really paid much attention to him, nor have
I ever read any of more academic research.

This has not been out of any sort disdain, its just the way things have
worked out. I usually hear about his work and opinion second hand--like
here. This makes me wonder why he is so often panned in the design
community.

So, at the risk of opening up a ginormous can of worms (and since I
don't have the time to read all of his work first hand to discover for
myself), would anyone care to explain our community's frequent animosity
toward Nielsen (aside from his hyperbole and pontification)?

And on what issues has he been so wrong that timothy karsjens would say
"...that does not preclude him from being 99% wrong (most of the time)."

I am curious.
