I'm with you Scott.

This is the age old balancing between matching user expectations and
matching targets.

'Work' is probably the wrong term here as it's possible to make it appear to
'work' but using whatever set of figures you prefer, providing there's some
kind of audience to start with.

There is no right or wrong here - it's a matter of company philosophy.
Obtrusive and pervasive advertising has more to do with the company
structure than the end solution.
