Sorry if the "kool-aid drinking" part sounded unfair.  My point was
just that no-one wants a vendor they are even moderately happy with to
go out of business.  Once you've bought into a vendor's product and
implemented it, you naturally want that vendor to succeed in the
marketplace.  That's what I was refering to as "kool-aid".  Rational
people who aren't unhappy with a product like this are likely to give
a good testimonial, expecially if the product isn't a
market-dominating one.  The high switching-costs for IT systems make
this realistic.  (It doesn't happen with facial tissues for instance.)

E.g. Firefox users (on average) will rave about that product, while IE
users (on average) won't waste their time, even if they are very happy
with it.  We love to fight for the underdog, especially if we've bet
on them.

BTW, you should all check out Firefox if you haven't already...you'll
never go back to IE.  :-)
