Interaction Design Group Launches Resource Library

For Immediate Release

May 17, 2005 ::: The Interaction Design Group (IxDG)--an association
that serves the needs of the international community of practitioners,
teachers, and students of interaction design--today launched the IxDG
Resource Library at http://resources.ixdg.org.

The IxDG Resource Library is a repository of information about
interaction design (IxD) that the IxDG community has created. It
includes documents, compilations of discussions from the IxD Discussion
mailing list, and descriptions of and links to many interaction design
resources on the Web. IxDG members may also comment on resources and
contribute items to the Library.

About Interaction Design

Interaction design (IxD) is the professional discipline that defines how
interactive products communicate their functionality to users and how
users can interact with them. Good interaction design makes products
ranging from computer software to microwave ovens to cars more useful
and usable.

About the Interaction Design Group

The Interaction Design Group (IxDG) is a new association that serves the
needs of the international community of practitioners, teachers, and
students of interaction design. Its mission includes

* evangelism--promoting awareness of the discipline, craft, and value
of interaction design among businesses, academia, consumers, and colleagues

* innovation--advancing the discipline of interaction design

* professionalism--encouraging high standards of practice among
interaction designers

* education--establishing standards for academic programs in
interaction design

IxDG hosts IxD Discussion, a mailing list that provides an international
forum for the discussion of interaction design and currently has about 2100
subscribers worldwide. Its subscribers include practitioners, educators,
and authors in the field of interaction design, as well as students and
others who are interested in the discipline of interaction design.
