Greenwich Council is looking for a full-time
information architect, starting in mid-to-late March.
The job is scheduled to last 6 months and may be
extended permanently.

Greenwich Council is London local authority, and the
position is based in the corporate web team, a
multidisciplinary team, with a deep commitment to
achieving the e-government targets and serving the
citizens of Greenwich.

This IA position is for a large Phase 2 project that
will redesign our current website
(www.greenwich.gov.uk), make the site transactional
and redesign and migrate our intranet onto the CMS
platform. Both use or will use Microsoft CMS,
Sharepoint Portal Server and Redwood Universal Forms
Server (UFS).

Please contact me directly at
julie.zielstra at greenwich.gov.uk to discuss the
position further or to send your CV, availability and
rates.

You should:
  * Have 3+ years experience as an information
architect.
  * Have been the principal IA on at least one major
enterprise-level website, from start to finish.
  * Be comfortable presenting -- and sometimes leading
-- large meetingswith senior management-level clients
  * Be able to show us examples of all or most of the
following typical deliverables:
       * use cases/scenarios
       * user personas
       * site maps, wireframes/schematics, process
flows
       * business analysis/features/requirements
       * functional specifications
       * content and information modelling using
metadata and CVs
  * Work very well with visual designers, content
editors and technologists
  * Be a good communicator, both spoken and written
  * Be able to back-up your ideas and decisions with
well-grounded IA related theory, anecdotes and
statistics
  * Be forward-thinking and resourceful about trends
and best practices in web design and IA. You should
have a strong understanding and desire to apply web
standards to your work
..*Be fully aware and knowledgable about the UK e-GMS
standards relating to web design, especially the
metadata schemas and controlled vocabularies.

This position is for the kind of IA who sees
themselves as a key project leader as well as a team
player, someone who can consistently generate new
ideas and strategies for the team and for the client.
In addition to your own web team, you’ll be working
alongside council suppliers, web agencies and
consultants like Deloittes. This is a hands-on
position and you’ll be leading these partners and the
team with your IA deliverables and experience.

Other things that would make you an excellent
candidate:
  * UK local government experience is a plus
  * You can work on your own initiative, creating
procedures, IA standards and policies for use along
the way
..*.You relish the challenge of creating an excellent
website that deliveries over 500 services to a
customer-base that can only be described as the
widest-possible range people, including businesses,
visitors to Greenwich (a World-Heritage Site)
..* You have no problem working in Woolwich! (closet
rail station is Woolwich Arsenal). We encourage
teleworking at least one day per week.
