I'm beginning to wonder how many of us have linguistics backgrounds,
since two people have mentioned work in linguistics in the past two
days. My undergraduate major was in linguistics (minor was political
science), and I did a couple of years toward a Ph.D in the subject. In
my second academic life, I got a master's in library and information
science, but I find the linguistics background relevant to my current
work too, at least tangentially. (Not to mention that linguistics and IA
are both fields that are hard to explain to people outside them.) Any
more of us around?
