The Symantec Enterprise User Centered Design group is soliciting 
applications for two Principal UI Designers.

One designer will be located in the Washington, DC area and the other in 
the Bay area.

Principal UI Designer, User Centered Design

General Description:

* Responsible for providing UI Design and Usability support to Symantec 
product development teams, including designing and specifying product UIs, 
the analysis and investigation of application usability, and field 
studies.


Responsibilities: 

* Drives UI Design and coordinates usability on multiple, unrelated 
projects. 
* Sets project usability objectives. 
* Works on problems of complex and diverse scope, identifying create 
alternatives. 
* Responsible for creating and maintaining UI prototypes and UI 
specifications. 
* Collaborates closely with development, visual design, product 
management, and program management to ensure the success of product UIs. 
* Create, adapt, and implement innovative ways of achieving highly usable 
products within Symantec.


Education: 

* B.A./B.S.  in Human Factors Psychology, Engineering, CS, Cognitive 
Psychology or related discipline.  M.A./M.S. in same preferred.


Success Factors: 

* Minimum 8 years UI Design and Usability evaluation experience. 
* Demonstrated skill in leading design and documenting UIs. 
* Demonstrated skill in conducting all feedback methodologies (e.g., 
usability testing). 
* Strong project management skills, including managing contractors, 
vendors, and interns. 
* Excellent communication skills. Must have solid experience with and 
knowledge of web-based UIs and HTML, and be able to produce UI prototypes. 
Also, ability to work in a team setting and be independently motivated is 
key.
