[Sigia-l] Card sort result reports?

Hi Amy,
I rarely use card sorts as a scientific study tool with all the results
tidily analyzed to the nth degree, though the card sort survey can certainly
be set up that way. I use it as an early design tool, a distributed
brainstorm sort of like cluster computing. I also rarely give a direct
report of the results. I just analyze the results for my own use and
incorporate my findings into the preliminary designs, and point out where
the card sort results influenced my design choices as appropriate.
I recently gave a workshop on this kind of card sorting at the annual STC
conference in Seattle. My slide deck (I know, I know, the evilness of
PowerPoint) should be available at:
http://www.stc.org/52ndConf/session.materials.asp. It will be the only
presentation listed under Hodgson as the presenter.
I also remember reading about card sort results on Jared Spool's usability
site, including the famous early Sun intranet card sort:
http://www.useit.com/papers/sunweb/.
The IAWiki page has a lot of nice card sorting information and links to
additional information: http://iawiki.net/CardSorting.
I hope these links provide at least some of what you're looking for. Don't
forget to search the SIGIA archives too!
