Hey Brian, welcome to the DC area.

You could join DCIA, the local IA group for the DC Metro area.  We have
a broadcast-only list that sends local event notifications, local job
listings, and other useful info to the list.  We also have various
regular get-togethers.  For instance, every other month we have an "IA
Salon."  Next meeting is in August.  (This used to be a book group, but
now we meet without reading a book first.  But we do have some good
books to recommend now!)  And the next local UPA event (including IAs on
the panel) is on Tusday the 19th in Bethesda.  Let me know if you want
the details.
