Someone emailed me about how/when new products/features should be
introduced. This may be more art than science. If you ask users (in the
abstract) whether they'd use a particular product/feature, most likely
they'll say, yes. Who wouldn't?:-)

There's often a significant delta between what early adaptors/advanced users
do and when the rest of the Bell curve follows suit. It's quite tempting to
introduce something before its time.

Anyhow, there's an interesting study on Digital Video Recorder market trends
on how/when early adaptors/masses take to a product. A lot of this applies
to software apps as well:
