[Sigia-l] check boxes versus multi-select lists

Why couldn't they do another solution, instead of multiple select box or
check boxes, why couldn't they have two lists, one has all the choices,
the next is the one that accepts your choices from the first. Add or
subtract list? This way it may help people who are handicap or at least
in the case of the person with one arm and not have to show long list of
check boxes?

Of course this may take more programming, but a pretty good solution.

Subject: [Sigia-l] check boxes versus multi-select lists

Just to throw my two cents into this conversation...

Once again, I will beat the drum that it all depends on the target
audience of the application you are working on. Basically speaking, if
it is intended for the public at large, then use check boxes instead of
the multi-select.

However, if your audience is "canned", ask them. You may be surprised
by the answer. Every application where I have had a canned audience,
they all prefer the multi-select versus the large list of check boxes.

Then again, in pretty much any situation, you need to do what the users
want, or you are just setting yourself up for failure.
