hiya,
The Situation:
I am working on a document repository that is all in english, but will
now include translations of some documents. only about 50% of the
content will be translated into 5 different languages.
The question:
what is the best way to allow people to access the translated versions
of the documents?
Context:
- One goal is to display all documents even if they are only in
english. So there will be multiple languages displayed. we'll need a
way to denote the language for each document. (ruled out mini flags :)
- The page is not database driven and that is not an option at this point.
- timeframe and budget are tight.
- we need to consider the impact on maintaining the resulting pages.
Ideas being tossed about:
1. put tabs on the top of the list of docs to toggle between languages
(each page would show whatever docs are in that language plus the
remaining available docs in english).
2. add a column telling what language each document is in and list
them all on one page.
3. Make an icon to show the language of each doc.
thanks,
jason
