[Sigia-l] Spamming this list

It's a fine line between spamming and announcing services. One person's
spam is another person's delight at hearing about a class, event or
professional opportunity.

One way we've handled this over on the DC Web Women list
(www.dcwebwomen.org) is by having a few rules in place for all our Subj. headers.
These rules are happily adhered to by our 3,000+ members as the result is faster
sorting, because the list is so heavy.

- For instance, when I announce my web writing classes, I use the header
"TRAINING".
- A question or problem gets "QUES".
- Sharing tech info gets "INFO".
- An event gets "EVENT".
- Looking for information gets "ISO".

And so on.It's pretty simple, really.

I've suggested this method to many other lists, but we're still the only
ones I know of who seem to be using it!

Cheers,

Merry
