Of course you do. :-) You have ideas and POVs. Every time you engage in a
discussion here, you are essentially "selling" them. And every member of the
list ought to be thankful that you do, because that's what makes a
community: we bring our own experiences and biases, then "sell" them in
hopes that others will find them useful.

I think John (who has no impediment to speak for himself :-) refers to those
who post here ONLY to sell their books, seminars, etc.

It's OK, of course, to lurk; several hundred people do and, incidentally, I
get a a ton of off-list email from lurkers here.

What's unseemly is those who may think it's somehow beneath them to engage
in any discussion but OK to abuse the membership as a direct mail list.
They'd rather sell their wares and memes, but not have them rigorously
examined here for that would be a "personal attack." You can't have it both
ways. Or people with a sense of propriety like John will complain. :-)

For the record, this is not a new phenomenon, as the archives would reveal.
