Easy now. :-) You can innovate in marketing too. The canonical example:
Friends and family, MCI.

In a former lifetime, when I was marketing counsel to one of the largest
Japanese electronics companies, they used to be in awe of American
marketing/advertising/merchandising companies. Having recognized their
superiority, they'd always defer to what New York said, even when that
caused consternation in Tokyo.
