On the topic of 99% sucking (which means 1% goodness!) and state
linking, Yahoo! Maps Beta actually uses a similar technique despite
being in Flash to let users bookmark any state the map is in,
including driving directions. http://maps.yahoo.com/beta

The irony is that some people asked, "where's the permalink button?"
