Yes, but the problem is that doing this *legally* is more often than not
unattainable, as  the MSFT case illustrates. In the technology business,
trying to prevent your competitors from out-innovating you (through
anti-competitive measures) may turn out to kill you first.  Case in point:
phone/telecom business.
