[Sigia-l] Utility of "executive dashboards"

I work in a government organization so it's always 5 or more years
behind the times. At the moment the hot project is "executive
dashboard". I know of two separate dashboards that have been
implemented already and there are more to come. Leaving aside the
obvious integration question, I'm more curious about whether these
things actually work or not. Is there any research to demonstrate that
organizations who use executive dashboards are more
successful/effective?
