[Sigia-l] is it just me, or is it really hard to find IAs right now?

This is the other side of the "What happens when the designer leaves?"
question: What happens when he stays?
Most organization will (to use a technical term) lie about that aspect of
the hiring process. Mostly they don't have any idea and they don't want the
designer to 'leave' so they won't honestly deal with that issue.
As I have said it here many times and as you have illustrated, it's
unrealistic to expect (especially senior) designers to stick around in the
name of "lifecycle management" when maintenance work is all there is. That's
just not sustainable.
The trick for the company management is to balance the need for contractors
and in-house staff, because you can't do everything only with in-house and
contractors won't do everything that needs to be done.
