I have to second what some others have said, but with an addition. I have
roughly 2 years experience and a near-complete MS in HCI, so I don't qualify
for many of the job postings. When I do qualify for a position, I am still
unwilling to move across the country for a 3-month contract, after which I
may be unemployed. For a permanent position, relocation is no problem.

For me, there is also the barrier of not knowing the "language" of
information architecture; rather, I speak of user-centered design, and it's
unclear to me how much the two overlap.
