Strategic Information Architect & Senior Information Architect
Are you an expert in information architecture? Do you have extensive
experience defining and organizing large websites? Do words like
"taxonomy", "facets" and "findability" excite you? Do you relish analyzing
business goals & user needs and defining the functions and features of a
website to help businesses with their strategy? Maybe it's time to

Our Web Services Group is looking to fill two positions:
· Strategic Information Architect ? to define the functions and features of
Vanguard's websites and inform and influence business strategy.
· Senior Information Architect ? to define the organization and structure of
Vanguard's websites.
Both roles require expert knowledge of, and the ability to plan and
coordinate, the following activities: user research & analysis (including
contextual inquiries, field studies, and surveys); business research &
analysis (including interviewing key business stakeholders); affinity
analysis techniques (e.g. building mental models to understand user goals
and tasks, mapping business goals to user needs); creating simple and easy
to understand presentations from large and complex data sets.
Information architects interact with business managers and stakeholders,
usability engineers, information designers and project managers throughout
the design life cycle in order to achieve stakeholders' objectives and
meet the target audience's needs and expectations. The information
architect will determine appropriate methodologies, collect data,
summarize findings, and report results to management and project teams.
The information architect will also be expected to take a primary role in
refining the methodologies and processes used to develop Vanguard's
websites and is expected to be an advocate for User Centered Design
throughout the organization.
Position Requirements:
· Undergraduate degree in Information Technology or the equivalent
combination of training and experience (Human-Computer Interaction,
Psychology, Human Factors/Usability, or Information Science, preferred).
· Five years' of information architecture experience. Web experience
required.
· Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including speaking and
presentation skills.
· Strong information & presentation design skills.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to communicate
and work productively in a multidisciplinary environment.
· Knowledge of the financial services industry preferred.
