Index Server has been mentioned before on this list in the same context.
Its existence as part of Windows for several years (in fact from NT 3 I
believe, but as an option), and the scant use that most people make of
it, leads me to think that Blinkx, Spotlight (I know, I know: that's
incrediblypowerfulandamazing but it's in the same area), and now the
Google offering, may not receive the reception that they hope from the
general public. But it's just hunch.
