Hi to all Chicago IA and usability folk,
Lou Rosenfeld and Steve Krug are coming to Chicago at the end of
October. Here are all the details as provided by Lou. It should be a
wonderful two days. Maybe I'll see you there, or perhaps at the Happy
Hour being sponsored by VSA Partners (q.v.).

Information Architecture and Web usability experts Lou Rosenfeld and
Steve
Krug continue their Fall workshop tour in Chicago October 28 and 29:
Day 1: Enterprise Information Architecture
A day-long seminar with Lou Rosenfeld, co-author of the best-selling
Information Architecture for the World Wide Web (aka the polar bear
book).
Many large organizations' websites and intranets are really just a
disjointed conglomeration of hundreds of smaller sites, all controlled
by
different departmental fiefdoms. Lou's workshop tackles the frustrating
challenge of getting a large, politically-charged, multi-departmental
web
environment to behave like a single, unified, user-centric web site.

Day 2: Don't Make Me Think: The Web Usability Workshop
Learn how to think like a usability expert in eight hours or less with
Steve Krug, author of best-selling web usability book, Don't Make Me
Think.
Steve's workshop will teach you how to recognize and solve the usability
problems in your own site, and how to make low-cost/no-cost testing an
everyday part of your company’s design process. The day includes a live
usability test and expert reviews of a number of websites using URLs
submitted by attendees--perhaps even your own.

Registration:
You may register at either Lou's or Steve's sites for either workshop.
A
volume discount is available when three or more attendees register at
the
same time (regardless of employer). A package discount is also
available
when registering for both workshops.
Happy Hour:
During the evening of October 28, VSA Partners is sponsoring a happy
hour
open to information architects, usability engineers, and anyone in the
Chicago user experience communities. Lou, Steve, and VSA invite you to
socialize and network with your colleagues. Details coming soon.
