If you want to build a bridge you need to understand where it leads to. If
you want to relegate "design" to a representational ghetto than you aren't
making friends on the other side of the bridge. Design is about solving
problems, not (solely) representation. A designer solving problems
(conceptual or otherwise) is not "all knowing," he's just doing his job.
Trust me, designers have been solving "complex and sophisticated" problems
long before certain people "helped create the profession of information
architecture."
