The User Experience team is part of the Intranet Services development
group, which builds Web-based sites and applications for lines of business
and corporate groups throughout the firm. Our mission is to ensure that the
end user is represented in the development of intranet and extranet sites
and applications, and to advocate a consistent and positive user
experience, where information and functionality is not only useful, but
also findable.
As a valuable member of this team, your primary role as an Information
Architect is to act as a subject matter expert on methods and best
practices in creating the information architecture (IA) portion of the user
experience for intranet and extranet sites or applications. You will also
act as an advocate for IA standards and best practices to other development
groups in the firm. The following tasks would be within the scope of your
responsibilities:
- Assist the User Experience team in defining the user flow, process flow,
site content, and navigational structures for intranet sites and
applications, developing content diagrams, narrative structures,
clickstream analysis, schematic layouts, navigational prototypes, page
level interaction and functionality, etc.
- Develop information architectures and taxonomies for web based
applications and sites.
Integrate the appropriate IA related tasks and methods into the standard
development life cycle
- Provide input, planning and support for user research, usability test
plans and analyze site metrics.
- Prototype navigation models and interaction designs for demonstration to
clients.
- Develop training on IA for the team and the enterprise.
- Partner with Marketing & Communications in creation of a corporate
intranet taxonomy.
- Lead the effort to improve Intranet Services' content management tools so
they reflect IA best practices
Qualifications
- Degree in Technical Communications, Library or Information Sciences,
Information Architecture, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Human
Factors, or other related discipline
- 2-3 years experience as an information architect or experience designer -
including complex interaction design
- Experience in Information Architecture for an Intranet or a large
enterprise is a plus
- Demonstrate direct involvement in the creation of artifacts such as
content matrices/mapping.
- Experience observing user research and translating user research into
design decisions
- Have a high level or proficiency in Visio, Word, Excel and Windows
