[Sigia-l] IE continues to slip

Today in a meeting, one of the executives of an unabashedly Microsoft-only
agency was projecting some UI stuff from his laptop. I noticed that his
browser was Firefox, something that I thought I'd never see from this
there's-nothing-else-to-consider-but-IE guy.

Later on, one of the suggestions I had made earlier (half heartedly, because
I thought they never adopt it) that they should move from an ActiveX app
module to a more ecumenical DHTML or Flash one was accepted without
discussion. Apparently they even spared some money to test it with various
browsers. I know this is the first day after the elections and strange
things might happen, but I was flabbergasted nevertheless.

When I came home I read this in the news:

The world's largest software maker's Internet Explorer browser market
declined from 95.5 percent in June mainly due to the increasing popularity
of Firefox... Firefox now enjoys a 6 percent market share, WebSideStory
said, up from 3.5 percent in June.

I know there have been contorted 'explanations' of the continuing decline of
IE browser share on this list, but I sure can get used to post these telling
stats and the positive effect they are already having in real life.
