The extended DVD's of the first and second Lord of the Rings movie were
informative regarding the detailed work involved. Some filming of the
script and scenes was done in bits and then they studied the sequences,
though this may have been mainly the director's work. Numerous people
contributed to the content and to what the content was to be. Even the
actors contributed observations (Strider carrying a deer for food for
the hobbits) and applicable skills that could be used (singing in
foreign languages, Pippin singing).
