[Sigia-l] Five questions about the future of this community

At the risk of belaboring a small point, on very few occasions has the
suggestion to check the archives stopped contributions. There are plenty of
times that additional links, new research, etc. have been posted. Frankly,
I'm a little confused as why the archives have been singled out as a problem
area (feel free to enlighten me, off list).

I'll even venture out on a limb to say most of the tone "challenges" are in
the mind of the reader. Some time back, I started to read each post as if
the person was a mentor. Not just the hokey, 'we're all peers,' but the
voice of someone who genuinely cares. It may seem like rose colored glasses,
but it worked and the edginess that is being discussed is not nearly as
apparent to me. Now when I get the chance to read the list, it's like a
refuge from the politics of my job.

Which leads me to one last thought - does this list have a mission or
purpose? I think it might be more helpful than a constitution while still
providing guidance to contributors and participants. Even something as
fluffy as "Evolving and growing the practice of information architecture
through the guidance of practioners and sympathizers."
