I did my Masters dissertation on "A semiotic analysis of world wide web
browser 'buttons'" (Saussurean model as opposed to the far more complex
Peircean). Frankly the only use it ever had was that prospective employers
always started the interview with "What's this semiotics then!"

Ho hum...

While we're at it: Anybody who finds semiotics useful to IA?
In case: How have you made use of it?

I didn't know there were so many IAs with a background in semiotics (and I
still suspect we're a minority :-))
