In relation to CRM Applications:

Is navigation more usable as a horizontal dropdown system covering sub
topics?

Horizontal, dropdown with breadcrumbs to familairize users with location
(instilling rapid, efficient searching as time goes on)?

Left-side vertical navigation?

Or horizonal tabular system with bread crumbs below it?

All of the activity will be displayed either below or to the right of this
navigation. I'm looking for supprting sources for either with explanations.
