Actually not. I think Andrew was referring more to responses that sound
informative and such can impress a client and lend credibility, though
the response may in reality have little substance to it.
This appears to be more a case where people are breaking social rules,
or more choosing social responses that are unexpected in order to gain
credibility. Usually, apologies are responded in like. In this case
though, an apology was taken as a sign of weakness to be leveraged.
It's a risky response that can backfire :)
Not advisable in public communications, or especially when communicating
with clients or prospective clients.
