What Stanford has that no other ARL libraries have is a very high-speed 
scanner about half the size of a SUV.  They can process their public domain 
books faster than any of the rest of us can.

When the OCLC digital masters catalog gets up and running, it will be 
interesting to see just how much overlap (or not) we all have in our 
digitized book collections.

Separately, Sanford gave up its ARL membership this past December.  They 
just issued a statement.
