TITLE: Information Architect

Summary 
An Information Architect at Orbitz will work closely with multi-disciplinary
teams in the planning, designing and documenting user experiences and
functionality for web-based travel booking, travel management and marketing
products. Information Architects will also work closely with internal teams
to ensure that user experience; industry and usability standards and best
practices are adhered to and in alignment with Orbitz’s business goals. 

Responsibilities 
Create, maintain and continue to evolve the information architectures and
interactions for the Orbitz.com Web site and associated products. Evaluate
the scope of projects, identify issues and risks and recommend approaches.
Identify and prioritize tasks and then evaluate the level of effort required
for the IA portion of initiatives. Stay abreast of user interaction
relationships and dependencies across multiple initiatives. Work closely
with Lead Information Architect to manage availability, report on progress
and plan for future efforts. Develop a broad understanding of Orbitz’s and
the competition’s business, technologies and products.Work closely with
internal teams to ensure that user experience best practices are promoted.  
Work closely with Product Marketing teams to ensure that product
requirements are understood, complete and then transformed into user
experiences that are sensitive to the user’s needs, business goals and
technology involved. Effectively present solutions to internal stakeholders.
Work closely with Consumer Research team to understand consumer needs prior
to efforts and evaluating usability of designs that are both in progress and
final. Work with IA team to establish and continue to evolve documentation
standards and work flow. Present finalized and in progress designs to
designers, editors, front-end developers, QA and engineers to aid these
teams in the development of their project plans, to ensure that solutions
are feasible, to alert others to potential risks and to gather feedback.
Create low and high fidelity prototypes for usability evaluations as needed.
Create and maintain documents such as wireframes, flow charts, site maps,
content inventories, functional specifications (schematics) Participate in
and report on usability studies performed by Consumer Research team when
necessary. 

Qualifications: Must demonstrate a high level of experience in either
information architecture, interaction design, user experience design or
human factors engineering in the development of large-scale, dynamic Web
sites, intranets or web based applications. Must demonstrate direct
involvement in the creation of artifacts such as wireframes, process flows,
flow charts, schematics, functional requirements, user scenarios, personas,
use cases or content matrices. Will have a thorough understanding of how
technologies such as browsers and scripting languages can impact or
constrain potential solutions. Will have broad experience working closely
with multi-disciplinary teams. Must have a thorough understanding of
Information Architecture, Interaction Design and User Experience concepts
combined with strong technical ability, practical skills, creative problem
solving skills and a high level of analytical ability is required. Must have
strong conceptual skills, a critical eye for detail and the ability to
translate complex concepts into visual representations. Will have experience
with and an understanding of Human Factors and usability methodologies,
protocols and processes such as analysis, prototyping and participation in
studies. Will demonstrate experience with project management processes such
as estimating efforts, assigning resources, creating schedules, identifying
tasks, prioritizing tasks and updating project plans Excellent
communication, interpersonal, and team work skills.  Must be organized,
self-motivated and able to switch rapidly between different projects. Must
have a high level or proficiency in Visio, Word, Excel and Windows.
