Not so good advice. There are over 500 million people online. Several
hundred million of them will not have used or become UI-intimate with a
database and a spreadsheet.

Again, this issue is not very clear.

Alpha -> a-z, z-a
Numeric -> 0-9?, 1-9?, 1-10?
Date -> ??
Volume -> 1-5?
Rating -> 1-10? (10 best or worst?)
Compression -> 1-10? (is 10 best quality or highest compression?)
a-z -> ascending or descending?
Etc.
