You're way too optimistic for a beautiful autumn day in NYC. :-) I've seen
(and had to compete against) this model over and and over and over since the
mid '80s. The inertia out there is overwhelming. Most American business P&L
structures are not designed for much consideration to what happens to an app
beyond the next few quarters. Upfront costs (like design) are an anathema to
a lot of managers, whose bonus rides on other considerations.
