I am designing UIs for public kiosks. The ADA requirements recommend a
foreground/background contrast of 70%.
My client, from the Australian Banker's Association, has a document that
says bg/fg should have a "30% luminance contrast".
I am challenged with determining if these are different measurements.
1] I presume context and wording might go a long way to clearing this up. If
anyone could direct me to relevant online websites for one or both of these
recommendations, that would be great. I looked up ADA (http://www.ada.gov/),
but it has nothing applicable to Web design.
2] Would "luminance contrast" have a specific definition, apart from
"contrast" as specified in the ADA requirements?
3] If they are the same term, any theories as to the numerical discrepancy?
