On the other hand, if they don't need "compensation" (given that they are
reasonably affluent), they might well appreciate the courtesy of a token
of appreciation for their time. In this case, it's not an up-front thing (do our
test and get a giveaway) but rather a Miss Manners kind of "we appreciate
the service you rendered" thing.

I've found that people often appreciate something that requires time
rather than money (e.g., assembling a small, attractive gift bag with lots
of goodies from Starbucks or Godiva or Levengers).

Done well, it may leave them thinking positively about the organization--which
may well help when the next call for donations goes out.
