Nextel Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: NXTL), a Fortune 300 company based in
Reston, Va., is a leading provider of fully integrated wireless

the best!  We currently seek a top-notch Information Architect to join our
IA team in Herndon, VA.

Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for the structure, organization, and labeling of information on
Nextel.com, including user interface design, navigational rules,
organization of information, site maps, and planning as it relates to target
audience's physical experience with the site and applications.
§	Interface and interact with various business groups to gauge requirements
on various initiatives and translate into information architecture and
interaction design schematics, possibly to include the following:
-	Conceptual models
-	Site maps
-	UI specifications/”wireframes”
-	User Flow diagrams/models
-	Navigational schematics
-	Content requirements
§	Drive consistency with all inter-related Nextel sites & products as
required
§	Conduct research to get at user requirements/needs from various sites and
applications (surveys, interviews)
§	Manage usability tests on various sites/applications as necessary
§	Develop usability best practices/standards for use across initiatives and
business groups
Make other contributions that improve the architecture and navigability of
our sites, as you define them through your own initiative.

Minimum Qualifications:  (Job related skills, experience, and education):
Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of methods for gathering data on
usability and be able to plan IA/usability work in conjunction with product
teams.  Individual must be self-sufficient and capable of leading
IA/usability projects for a product with millions of users in a highly
competitive and complex environment.  Ideal candidates will have the
following backgrounds:

·	B.S degree & 5+ years experience in an Information
Architecture/Interaction Design role
·	Experience with web site execution and information architecture on major
e-business company web site
·	Demonstrable experience in delivering site maps, content inventory and
modeling, wire frames, vocabularies, search specifications and competitive
analysis
·	Strong understanding of user design and usability analysis of web sites,
including user research and conducting usability tests.
·	Experience working with company leadership across multiple functions
·	Experience in development of policies and procedures.
·	Strong organization, verbal, and written communication skills.
·	Self-starter with confidence to set direction and follow- through.
·	Proficiency in the following software:
-	MS Office, MS Visio, DreamWeaver
·	Relational database experience a plus
·	Front-end design and technical proficiency a plus (Photoshop, HTML,
Javascript)
