Yes, I have read and studied the article - a very long time ago. So don't
quote me, but as I remember what he actually said was that there was
analysis and then coding steps in every software project as distinct steps,
but these had to be supported by overhead steps of requirements, testing
etc...something like that anyway.
However I never mentioned Royce. The waterfall approach is not altogether
his fault / idea as Royce himself doesn't specifically put forward the
waterfall model - this was how it was interepreted into many subtle
variations of sequential lifecycles. All highly risky as an approach.
Also quoting from Boehms 1987 report "A Spiral Model of Software Development
and Enhancement".
