Very true. I was just having a crazy nirvanic dream induced by my cold.
Unfortunately project managers can have a tendancy to look at projects in a
way that involves no iteration. They want a document to sign off that
answers all the questions. This is not to generalise, but is a tendancy.
Organisational maturity cannot be blamed for project failure though. There
is an onus of responsibility on client, vendor, consultant, etc to ensure
the project does take a sensible approach and risks are mitigated. Applying
your skills appropriately to the organisation in question is neccessary and
you cannot claim failure was induced by lack of organisational maturity.
Therefore you have to present your approach in a way that the organisation
will understand yet incorporate as much iteration as possible - assesment of
the organisation and it's abilities will help.
Cheers,
jod
