I agree completely with Boniface (and I can't believe I just documented that
in a public forum...heh-heh).

Although I would take a real close look at the "maturity" level of the
organization before sticking my foot in my mouth.  There are a number of
successful software companies, with extensive experience in developing
enterprise level applications that neglect to prototype (or have a very
loose definition of the word).  These organizations are often highly
successful in their specific vertical and yet very deaf to the ROI arguments
around prototying.

At those times I often spend my time looking for an internal champion who
considers themselves "innovative" to partner with and push "incremental"
changes (typically they can be found in the marketing/sales or user support
departments).  Yeah, I know...I don't get to change the world but one battle
at a time can be equally effective in the long run.
