Last Wednesday a friend emailed me about an IA position, asking if I knew of
anyone interested. Thursday I received an email from an AIfIA volunteer
announcing the job board. Thursday evening my friend had already sent a
message to the job board and emailed me thanking for the great opportunity
which is to have a targeted job board.

I have been involved with some of AIfIA's initiatives before I became a
member. The reasons why I joined are, first, because I wasn't put aside for
not being a member when I started volunteering. To me that shows its
commitment to spreading the word on IA and building a real community
infrastructure.

Second is because AIfIA volunteers are doing a really great job and
producing lots of valuable assets to the field, which is being very helpful
to me personally, both in bettering myself as an IA and disseminating the
field locally (which I found great difficulty in doing, before, here in
Brazil).

On that note, I recommend those who don't know AIfIA and what it's been up
to, to check it out and participate in an initiative that addresses the
issues you are most interested in. If you like the experience, then join.
You don't just buy an idea, you make an informed decision. So far, AIfIA
delivered everything I expected and presented me with lots of other
possibilities. Try it out.
