Amusingly enough Peter Comber's (of the BBC) chapter (4) in:

is using the BBC as a test case for traffic analysis to:
1. find out daily most popular articles
2. audited traffic results for external and internal audit reports
3. detailed visitor analysis

After which of course each would produce their own definitions as to what
spying is, what information is freely available etc..
